Canberra's clay soils don't drain — water sits on the surface, pools against the house and softens everything built on it. Proper drainage and earthworks are the foundation of every landscape we build, and we also fix yards that were never drained properly in the first place.

How the job runs
Find the water
We look at where water comes from, where it sits, and where it can legally be directed.
Plan the levels
Work out cut, fill and falls so the whole yard sheds water away from the house.
Excavate & drain
Trenching, ag pipe, gravel and grading go in to plan.
Reinstate
The yard is reinstated ready for turf, paving or garden beds — or finished off by us.
Common questions
Why does my backyard stay soggy for days after rain?
Heavy clay is very slow to absorb water. Without falls and subsoil drainage, water simply sits there. Regrading and ag drains usually fix it.
Where does the drainage water go?
It has to be directed to a legal point of discharge. We'll work out the right option for your block — and if stormwater plumbing connections are needed, that part is done by a licensed plumber.
Do you do earthworks on their own?
Yes — excavation and levelling can be booked on its own, though most clients have us carry on and build the landscape too.
Can you level a sloping block?
Yes, usually with a combination of cut-and-fill and retaining walls. We'll show you what's realistic for the slope and budget.
